The magic of this duotone album is that it is printed with two colors: an orange and a color-black shadow. The book also includes a pair of cardboard glasses with red cellophane lenses. Thus the book provides two completely different readings, changing the appearance of the artwork and plot development as the reader is wearing glasses or not. Reading the book with glasses on, the orange yellow ink disappears, as the red haze hides lenses making us appear invisible. The album recounts the story of a brother and sister who see the world very differently. With the red glasses on, we follow the girl narrator. She invents a machine that makes her invisible: it is merely a box that she places over her eyes. By not seeing, she thinks nobody sees her. And wearing it, she runs away from home and finds that, in addition to being invisible, she can see a world invisible to others. Without the glasses we follow the boy narrator who moves around the everyday world that every one can see. With its surprising construction, this book certainly entertains and amazes!
