Ever since 1975, Annick
Press has lived by the motto: "excellence and innovation in children's
literature." With approximately thirty titles a year, Annick Press has
established itself as a leading voice of Canadian children literature and
earned international success and recognition with its list. In the spring
of 2000, Annick Press added a new dimension to its publishing program with
the move into young adult fiction. Annick Press has previously sold French
rights to Autrement, Gallimard, Casterman, La Courte Echelle, and Les 400
Coups.
Editions Alternatives
Founded in 1975 in Paris, Les Editions Alternatives is an independent house
interested in titles a bit off the beaten path in categories such as photography,
architecture, art, design, calligraphy, and music. With their collection "Avoir
20 ans à..." (now counting ten titles) les Editions Alternatives
explores what it means to be twenty years old in cities as diverse as Moscow,
Russia and Bogota, Columbia. Alternatives adds roughly forty titles
each year to its existing two hundred.
Ekare
Twenty-five years ago, Ediciones Ekaré started with a staff of two
and a list of four. Today, the independent Venezuelan publisher employs thirty and has
a list of over one hundred fifty titles sold around the world.
However, the company's founding principals still hold; to produce meaningful books
that children and adults alike can enjoy and keep in their memories and hearts.
Libros del Zorro Rojo
Founded in 2004, Libros del Zorro Rojo is an in dependant publisher established in Barcelona with more than 50 titles in its catalogue.
With illustrated titles for children, young adults, and adults, Libros del Zorro Rojo focuses on literary and visual excellence. Its collection for young adults brings forth classics from around the world (like Kafka, Mark Twain, Federico Garcia Lorca, etc.) illustrated by some of the most talented artists of today (Antonio Ségui, Enrique Breccia, José Munoz, Luis Scafati, etc.).
Pequeño Editor Pequeño Editor is a new Argentinean Publisher dedicated to the production of illustrated books for “small readers” and “big curious”. Pequeño’s team is composed of authors, photographers and illustrators who pool resources and knowledge to produce beautiful and original books. They work in a cooperative form and are in close relation to an Argentinean printer. Their motto: to create a bigger literary space where experimentation with text, illustrations, photographs and format can be used with freedom.
Quirk Books
Created in 1999 after the world-wide success of The Worst-Case Scenario Handbook
series, Quirk Books produces irreverent and innovative books in the area of pop culture,
lifestyle, sexuality, crossover gift books, and, of course, practical and impractical reference.
With approximately twenty-five new titles per year, the Philadelphia-based publisher is a quirky
new house full of energy and extraordinary ideas.

Tara Publishing Tara
Publishing, whose core group is a collective of writers, artists
and designers, represents some of the most creative and exciting developments
in contemporary Indian publishing. At times handmade, on rice paper
and using silk-screening, their insistence on literary and visual
excellencealong with continuing explorations of form and contenthas
resulted in a select program that is radical, sophisticated, witty,
and politically rigorous. Although very young, their titles have already
sold in Europe and North America. They publish children and gift books,
and fiction.
Thule Ediciones
Created in 2004, Ediciones Thule is a new Spanish publisher based in Barcelona. With a production of
14 titles per year and a crew of four, Thule, which takes its name from the mysterious island discovered by Piteo de Masalía,
wants to explore the space where the real world meets the imaginary. Thule will introduce new literary paths and experiment with
new formats and materials. They publish two main collections, microMundos on the genre of short stories, for the readers constantly
in motion with only a few minutes to spare, and Trampantojo, a collection of illustrated books that aims at mixing literature and
art, offering a different view point.
